NForce RAID

NF4_SLI_header.jpg

Instructions on NForce RAID installations:

Here is a list of what you will need after you have installed all the hardware:
  1. Motherboard CD
  2. RAID drivers and IDE drivers on a floppy
  3. Windows XP CD/DVD
  4. DX9C full on a CD (this is usually included on the motherboard CD, check to make sure
  5. Decide what partitions you will want so you will be ready to have windows make these changes when prompted.
Install for NForce4 based Motherboard:

1) Boot and enter motherboard BIOS, navigate to the onboard devices part of the BIOS, go into IDE and enable all the IDE channels that you have devices attached to. Then exit that portion and enter the nforce raid and enable it then enable only the IDE/SATA channels your hard drives are connected to. Make sure you do not enable the channel your DVD/CDRW is connect to. Then exit and configure your bios according to your cpu and RAM specs.

2) Enter RAID BIOS and set up your RAID (RAID 0) as normal but with one exception, at the exit page, do not set the array to Boot in the RAID BIOS. Just leave it as saying "NO" and exit to Windows install.

3) Use the F6 command when prompted at the very first prompt while windows begins to load drivers to memory. Wait for the RAID prompt to come up and load the RAID drivers first, then the Storage Drivers.

4) Continue to the windows partition prompt and use windows to partition and format your hard drives. We suggest using NTFS.

5) When Windows is fully loaded, install DX9C then chipset drivers with one exception, do not load the IDE drivers, these have already been loaded by the F6 command.

6) Install the NF Firewall and network software at end of chipset install. I have found these drop CPU usage by readdressing the instruction path and not utilizing the CPU and adding load. (So do not use any other Firewall)

Installing support software on your NForce3 system:

6) Format your remaining partitions and then load the remaining drivers starting with the NF3 driver set. One note, do not install the IDE drivers again, you have already done this when you used the F6 command at install.7)  Install the NF Firewall and network software at end of chipset install. I have found these drop CPU usage by readdressing the instruction path and not utilizing the CPU and adding load. (So do not use any other Firewall)

The DX9 is essential for the NF3 drivers to operate properly, if you have not done this first, you may harm your hardware even if you installed DX9 after the NF3 drivers. DX9 must be first.
